Another Week-end's Work

The top photo shows the additions I have made to the console. I now have an intermediate self that the shifter base is bolted to, then I have the upper shelf with a slot for the shifter handle and holes for the cupholders. The blue piece of rubber will be replaced with a slotted shifter dust blocker like the ones used in new cars. The shifter is in the low gear position, (all the way back), in this photo. Charlie and I will roll out some 16ga steel plate to fit the area behind the storage compartment cover/arm rest, as well as the area just behind the upper shifter shelf and in front of the shifter shelf. These sheet steel pieces will be painted to match the exterior of the pickup.

The bottom photo shows the power window unit installed in the passenger door, (the vertical bar inside the door opening about midway in the door). Both driver and passenger door have been done.

Next up is the emergency or foot-brake, where I'll have to fabricate some brackets to hold it to the firewall. After that, I'll need to finish up the dash insert and fit the front fenders, hood, grill support, etc., (this could take a couple of weekends - it will take a lot of shims to get it correct). Then, it will be pretty close to getting painted.

Until next time...
